Growing up in a small town in North Carolina, I experienced the chaos of a broken home. The constant changes—moving more times than I can count, my father’s deployments, and witnessing the adults around me struggle with addiction—left me seeking solace in the details of my surroundings. I began drawing and painting constantly, using art as a way to process overwhelming emotions from a very young age. In my work, I focus on hidden objects and intricate details, often using vibrant colors to heal the inner child within me. I feel as though she is always present, guiding me as I create.
When I moved to college, I knew I wanted to pursue art but wasn’t sure which medium would best express my experiences. It wasn’t until I discovered printmaking that I truly felt at home. I was captivated by the ability to focus on every little detail throughout each step of the process. Through techniques like multi-layer etchings and photolithography, I explore color and perspective, combining methods to create unique and dynamic prints that reflect the complexity of my personal journey.
